As expected, Peyton Manning announced his retirement from the NFL during a press conference in Denver today. And while it has been pretty clear that Manning’s career has been coming to a close for awhile now, that didn’t make the speech that he delivered while announcing his retirement any less emotional. Manning thanked the city of New Orleans, his head coaches, his teammates, his opponents, and all of those who played a vital role in his career during his speech. He didn't shed any tears, but he did come close a few times. And he ended his speech by saying, “God bless all of you, and God bless football," which are words that will likely echo from Manning well into the future.

If you missed the speech, you can watch it in the clip above. It's truly the end of an era.
