Francesco Totti Got a Standing Ovation from Real Madrid Fans in His Final Champions League Game

Saluting a legend.

Francesco Totti has a reason to remember his final Champions League game.

The 39-year-old Italian legend is widely expected to hang up his boots and join AS Roma's coaching staff as he turns 40 at the end of the season, and while his likely-final European game for his club didn't go exactly to plan, he still had a moment to savour.

Upon entering the pitch in a late substitute appearance, the Real Madrid supporters united and stood on their feet to welcome the all-time Serie A record goalscorer for a final time.

An entire stadium of supporters paying tribute to an opposition player is one of football's firmest signs of greatness, and if it's even more significant coming from a miserable Madrid fanbase who booed Cristiano Ronaldo earlier in the evening.

We salute you, Totti.
