Over the last three years, a handful of letters written by Aaron Hernandez to jailhouse pen pals have leaked out, courtesy of TMZ Sports. See here, here, and here for some examples.

Most of them have been surprisingly positive and have featured the former Patriots player thanking people for their support. But early this morning, TMZ Sports published Hernandez’s latest letter, and it’s not quite as upbeat as some of his other letters have been in the past.

In the letter, Hernandez writes to a woman named “Rachel” who wrote to him sometime late last year. Apparently, she had some not-so-nice things to say when she wrote to Hernandez, so Hernandez begins his response by telling her that he’s not even sure why he’s writing her back. He then rips Rachel for providing him with her address, refers to her as “dumb” for doing it, and attacks her for asking him for an autograph at the end of her letter after criticizing him. And after he’s done doing all that, he suggests several ways that “fake fans” like Rachel should consider killing themselves. His suggestions are as follows:

  1. "Tie a cinderblock to your ankles and jump in a deep body of water!"
  2. "Make a noose, tie it from the railing of a second level staircase, put your neck through it, make sure its very tight and jump!"
  3. "Buy the most powerfall (sic) firecrackers in the world that’s possible to buy, tie it to your face with duct tape, light it and wait for your head to explode."

Hmmm…yeah, that positivity from some of Hernandez’s early letters is definitely gone.

Hernandez doesn’t stop there, either. After throwing out those suggestions, he continues to chastise Rachel—he seemed to take issue with her asking for his autograph more than he did with her criticizing him in her letter—and then takes aim at the media, the DA in his murder case (“Looks like he’s on his last days with his anorexic skeleton looking ass”), and even Patriots owner Robert Kraft. But he also reveals that he has a TV in his jail cell and that he uses it to keep up with his former team.

“I still root for my squad and still love all the ones I loved,” he writes. “The closest I was with was probably [Tom] Brady in whom I love to death and always will and only hope the best for them.”

The letter ends with Hernandez bringing up the suicide suggestions he listed again and telling Rachel that the third one “seems the most fun.” And after all that, he also ends up providing Rachel with his autograph and signs it next to the words, “2 chains, 1 big chopper.”

You can read the entire letter here. It’s easily his craziest one yet.
