Lionel Messi has used his latest Ballon d'Or win as a platform to commit his future to Barcelona.

Fresh from being crowned the best player on the planet for a record-breaking fifth time, Messi spoke to the press about his numble beginnings at Barca and his desire to finish his story where it began.

In short, it doesn't look like he'll be joining Pep Guardiola at Manchester City in the summer:

"I've always said that I don't want to leave Barcelona,. It's always the same response. My idea is I want to finish my career at home, and my home is Barca. My intention is to end my career where I started it in Barcelona."

Messi and Barcelona won five trophies in 2015.

Messi's statements will come as a major blow to Premier League clubs like Manchester United and Manchester City, who have both been linked with moves to bring Messi to the Premier League.

It's back to the drawing board for Ed Woodward. Cristiano Ronaldo, perhaps?
