Arsene Wenger is snapping up two of the hottest prospects in African football.

Nigeria's U17 side shocked the world when they won last year's FIFA U17 World Cup and it looks like Arsenal were watching closely – they're about to sign Nigeria's captain (and Player of the Tournament) and one of the cup's top scorers.

Speaking to press on Friday, Wenger confirmed that the club were finalising deals for midfield man Kelechi Nwakali and 16-year-old winger Samuel Chukwueze.

Kelechi Nwakali won FIFA's Player of the Tournament award at the U17 World Cup.

The Sun reports that Arsenal have beat off competition from Manchester City and Bayern Munich to land the teenagers.

Confirming the deal was close, Arsene Wenger said:

"“The talks with the Nigerian boys are progressing well and I expect to complete the deal this month.

Nigeria scored 23 goals in the competition and while Nwakali took home the award for player of the tournament, young Eagles striker Victor Osimenh finished as the tournament's top scorer with an incredible 10 goals.

He won't be coming to North London though, as he just signed a deal with Wolfsburg earlier today.
