The 8-year veteran made a case for his unusual beliefs in somewhat logical terms. But come on, guy.

William Hayes is a dinosaur truther. He also believers in mermaids.

The Rams defensive end believes all those T-Rexes and Brontosauruses scientists have put together and posted up in museums around the world are fakes.

In an ESPN.com feature chronicling Hayes, his contributions to the Rams defense, and his close relationship with teammate Chris long, the 8-year veteran made a case for his unusual beliefs in somewhat logical terms.

"No, I don't believe dinosaurs existed," Hayes said last month. "Not even a little bit. With these bones, it's crazy because man has never seen a dinosaur, we can agree on that, right? But we know exactly how to put these bones together? I believe there is more of a chance you will find a mermaid than you will a dinosaur because we find different species in the water all the time.

Long, who tweeted out one priceless Instagram video proving Hayes legitimately thinks scientists have been pulling a fast one on humanity all these years, tried his best to explain his buddy's logic.

"He thinks archaeologists place bones underground like a parent would place Easter eggs," Long said earlier this season, laughing. "They just planted them. It's some large conspiracy. He does not believe that dinosaurs ever existed and he thinks that mermaids are real. I love dinosaurs, so we have a big point of contention."

Give Hayes props for sticking to his guns.
