The day after a report leaked statingPeyton Manning used human growth hormone, the television pitchman (and also five-time MVP) gave an interview to ESPN in an effort to state his case/control the damage. He did so this morning on NFL Countdown, the Worldwide Leader's entirely too long Sunday pregame show.
Talking to reporter Lisa Salters, Manning gave an incredibly emphatic denial to last night's allegations, using a list of adjectives including: "angry, furious, disgusted" and "sickened" to describe his feelings over the content of the documentary (set to air today on Al Jazeera). Manning was vehement in his rebuttal and said he was mad that his wife Ashely's privacy was brought into it. He also described the documentary's charges as a "freakin' joke," "defamation," and "complete garbage." And appeared to hold back from swearing on a few occasions.
When asked about his affiliation with the Guyer Institute, the operation that allegedly mailed HGH to his wife, he said it was a by the books relationship that took place during "office hours" and provided him access to a hyperbaric chamber and nutrient IV therapies whilst recovering from four neck surgeries back in 2011. He claims to have never met the man behind the on-tape accusations (Charlie Sly) whom he repeatedly referred to as a "slapstick." Sly has since denied what he was filmed saying.
Previously (as in last night) Manning also denied the report (which was expected whether he did it or not) saying: "The allegation that I would do something like this is complete garbage and totally made up. It never happened. Never. I really can't believe somebody would put something like this on the air. Whoever said this is making stuff up."
