Back on Nov. 10, the New York Attorney General issued a "cease and desist" letter to both DraftKings and FanDuel, demanding that they stop "illegally" accepting wagers in New York State in connection with daily fantasy sports.
Predictably, the companies took action in court to fight back against New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, but a judge has ruled that they must remain out of action in the state until the matter is legally resolved.
New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman had asked Judge Manuel Mendez to temporarily block the companies from offering their daily fantasy sports contests for cash while he fights them in court. Schneiderman says the companies offer a form of illegal gambling under state law, and has sued to shut them down permanently.
That last part is why the bulk of us would like to see this go away for good, and besides -- it's basically impossible to win money playing daily fantasy games anyway.
