How do you get hockey fans to donate toys to children in need during the holidays?

Simple: Allow them to throw them onto the ice.

This is a promotion that goes down annually in minor league hockey markets, where teams try to get fans to bring stuffed animals to the arena to donate to those less fortunate. After the home team scores its first goal, the stuffed toys get launched onto the ice at the same damn time.

The Calgary Hitmen held their event on Sunday, and broke their own world record by collecting 28,815 toys.

Pretty cool way to make the holiday donation process as painless as possible.
