A beef between J.J. Watt and…Andy Dalton?! Um, yes. This is really happening.

Last night, the Texans Holly Holm’d the Bengals during their Monday Night Football game. Houston lost its starting quarterback Brian Hoyer during the second half and only managed to score 10 points during the game, but they held Cincinnati to just six points and forced A.J. Green to fumble the football on a drive late in the fourth quarter to move to 4-5 on the season. It was a really surprising road victory for Houston, and after it was over, Watt took a not-so-subtle shot at Dalton during an interview with ESPN.

“Our goal was to come out here and make the Red Rifle look like a Red Ryder BB Gun, and I think we did that,” Watt said, referring to Dalton’s nickname. “He is a great player, and they are a great team, but our coaches put together a great game plan. We executed the game plan, everybody did their job.”

We see what Watt did there by softening the blow with the “he is a great player” bit. But a short time later, Dalton heard what Watt said about him. And while speaking with reporters, he revealed that he didn’t appreciate Watt’s comment.

“I’m disappointed in him because of the integrity of this game,” Dalton said. “I have a lot of respect for him. He’s a really good player. There are a lot of kids and people who look up to him, and for him to make comments like that, he’s just showing that’s acceptable to say that kind of stuff. It’s disappointing for one of the best players in this league to come out and say something like that, so that’s all I’m going to say about that. I think J.J.'s a good player, but for him to be one of the best in this league and to show that integrity, it shows what he’s all about, which is disappointing.”

Well then. Can’t say we saw this coming. What’s next? Watt responding to Dalton calling his behavior "disappointing" on Instagram? Stay tuned!
