Almost exactly one month ago, C.C. Sabathia announced that he was skipping the 2015 MLB Playoffs and checking himself into a rehab facility to deal with alcoholism. It was a pretty shocking announcement, because there was no real indication that the Yankees star had a problem.

Today, Sabathia appears to be in a much better place, so he sat down with Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts this week to discuss his stint in rehab. He told her that he first realized he had a problem with alcohol back in 2012 and that he finally decided to get help for it last month after binge-drinking in his hotel room during a road trip to Baltimore.

"I feel like I was just tired of hiding," he said. "I just feel such a relief that everybody knows now."

Sabathia also spoke with the New York Daily News about his struggles and detailed how he tried to beat his addiction on his own in the three years leading up to him going to rehab.

“I kind of admitted that I was an alcoholic," he said. "I would put two or three months together being sober, but I would get on the road and when nobody was looking, I would isolate myself and just start drinking. Kind of binge-drinking where I was going on for a whole weekend."

Check out the clip above to hear Sabathia talk more about his ongoing battle. Best of luck to him as he continues to move forward.
