Skip Bayless Weighed In on the 2Pac vs. Biggie Debate and, Somehow, the ‘ESPN First Take’ Set Didn't Self-Destruct

Blame Timbaland for this.

Skip Baylesshas said a lot of ridiculous things on ESPN First Take over the years, but to the best of our knowledge, he has never really ventured into the rap arena and attempted to settle debates amongst rap fans. Until today!

Timbaland made a guest appearance on First Take this morning and, during it, Skip asked him to pick his favorite rapper. It was a simple enough question, but of course, Timbo struggled to come up with an answer because, well, who can pick just one rapper? So he rambled through a bunch of names before ultimately settling on either 2Pac or The Notorious B.I.G. as his final answer. That led to a discussion between Timbo and Stephen A. Smith and, eventually, Skip decided that he was going to chime in with an answer to his own question. And surprise, surprise, he had an opinion on the age-old 2Pac vs. Biggie debate that has been argued about for years now.

“Am I allowed to have an opinion here?” he said, before deciding that today would be the day he would piss off legions of 2Pac fans. “If we’re going to boil it down to 2Pac or Biggie, the greatest performer ever in that genre is The Notorious B.I.G. Even if you saw the movie that they made about him, he just blew people away with his power, his charisma.”

That’s right. Skip is Team Biggie all the way—and it’s due in large part to a movie, which leads us to believe that he’s not out here bumping Ready to Die on the regular.

Somehow, the First Take set is still standing after this stunning revelation, despite everyone's obvious shock at Skip talking rap:

If you want to hear the entire conversation between Skip, Stephen A., and Timbo (c’mon, this is riveting stuff, no?!), go here and fast-forward to the 51-minute mark. Or don't and go here instead to see our (much better!) take on the 2Pac vs. Biggie debate.
