In a game that's full with weird and wonderful personalities, ex-Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse still manages to stand out and this latest story is almost too strange for words.
Thr 34-year-old striker – who most recently played with Bastia in Ligue 1 – is in custody in France over his involvement in an alleged blackmail plot against fellow France international, Mathieu Valbuena.
According to French newspaper Le Figaro, Cisse is one of four men to have been arrested in connection with the plot that reportedly relates to bribery and a sex tape.
Djibril Cisse is expected to be "ruled out of the case" after questioning.
It seems like Cisse's arrest has purely been precautionary and after co-operating with the investigation, he's "expected to be ruled out of the case soon".
Never a dull moment in the life of Djibril.
