When the Eagles traded LeSean McCoy to the Bills this offseason, McCoy later hinted that he believed Philadelphia head coach Chip Kelly was racist.

"The relationship was never really great," McCoy said. "I feel like I always respected him as a coach. I think that's the way he runs his team. He wants the full control. You see how fast he got rid of all the good players. Especially all the good black players. He got rid of them the fastest. That's the truth. There's a reason…It's hard to explain with him. But there's a reason he got rid of all the black players—the good ones—like that."

The topic came up again last week, after Brandon Boykin was traded to the Steelers and said that Kelly was "uncomfortable around grown men of our culture."

A couple of additional Eagles players chose to remain anonymous while giving quotes to Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report, but the picture they paint isn't one of a man who is racially biased.

The quote below is from an African-American Eagles player, and it puts into perspective something important about Chip Kelly.

Treating players as commodities is less than ideal, obviously, and being dead to your head coach for not being 100 percent on board with how he's running things probably doesn't make for a very fun working environment.

But what's seeming to come into focus is that Kelly isn't a racist. He may just be an asshole instead.
