Dallas Cowboys Cornerback Orlando Scandrick Carted Off Practice Field, Believed to Have Torn ACL

Yet another casualty of the preseason.

The worst thing that can happen in your training camp is for a player (especially a key player) to go down for the year with an injury. Since camp drags out for seemingly forever, it's always a very realistic possibility. Like the Packers a few days ago with Jordy Nelson, the Cowboys learned that already well known lesson today when their All-Pro cornerback Orlando Scandrick was carted off the practice field with what they fear is a torn ACL. Scandrick reportedly injured his knee after a collision with wide receiver Lucky Whitehead:

Secondary coach Jerome Henderson on Orlando Scandrick: "He said immediately 'it's my ACL. I know it. It's gone." Club awaits MRI to confirm.

Replay shows Orlando Scandrick right knee buckles as he goes to tackle Lucky Whitehead. Rookie then falls on Scandrick's right knee.

Per source, Cowboys CB Orlando Scandrick tore ACL without contact. Had two interceptions in practice before injury.

His replacement in the secondary will be either Morris Claiborne (one of only two Dallas corners to have previous experience in the NFL) or first round pick out of UCONN, Byron Jones.

Scandrick is certainly bummed, we're sure. But when the painkillers wear off, and he's able to think clearly again, he'll likely rest easy knowing that this was just part of god's plan.

At least, according to Glover Quin.
