Romario Dos Santos is 25-year-old aspiring bodybuilder, and also the human Hulk. He got to look like the way he does by becoming a synthol addict after befriending a certain set of bodybuilders in a neighboring town.

According to Romario, the lifters at a new gym he started going to had massive arms, and in an attempt to get like them, he started taking what they were using: synthol, a site enhancement oil used to give the illusion of muscle. It's an oil that bodybuilders will sometimes use as a spot treatment or "fluff" for muscles that lag behind in development. It's the scientific/human version of Anchor Arms:

Synthol, however, is addictive, and can cause nerve damage, pulmonary embolisms, strokes, and muscle cysts. In Romario's case, the oil caused his muscles to turn to rock. "I remember the doctor told me that they would need to amputate both arms—they said everything in there, all my muscles, were rock," he told Barcroft TV. His medical problems caused him to lose his job, and the constant scrutinization of his appearance plunged Romario into a deep depression that lead to a suicide attempt.

Doctors were ultimately able to save his arms by cutting the rock muscle out, and two years after the fact, Romario's since recovered from his addiction. He still looks insane though.
