EA Sports has announced that FIFA 16 will feature international women’s teams for the first time in the game’s history.

There will be 12 national teams available for play, including Brazil, England, France, and team USA.

It hasn’t been a great week for the FIFA name, but this announcement is a bright spot.

A handful of U.S. women’s national team stars, including Alex Morgan and Abby Wambach, were used in a motion capture session to help animate players’ movements in the game itself. EA also traveled the world to scan the female player’s heads and faces in real life to make the look of FIFA 16 as accurate as possible.

We have to wait until next year to play FIFA 16, but if you want to watch the inspirational athletes play in real life, the Women's World Cup kicks off on June 6.
