The above picture is the end result of Canelo Alvarez (45-1-1, 32 KOs) and James Kirkland's (32-2, 28 KOs) middleweight showdown that took place in Houston last night. The fight didn't last long, as Kirkland took a trip to the mat in the third round. Alvarez's right fist was the travel agent that arranged for Kirkland's oxygen starved brain to meet the canvas (for the third time in the evening, we might add). The victory will give Alvarez a chance at the title (or at least a title), which is currently held by Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32 KOs). That is, of course, assuming Cotto takes care of his own business next month and wins his bout against challenger Daniel Geale (31-3, 16 KOs).

Anyways, sorry for delaying, just trying to provide context. Here was last night's punch that sent everyone home (and Kirkland to the hospital for a CT scan). It was a thing of beauty, which is likely more than we can say for Kirkland's jaw x-rays afterward:

1.

Admit it, that's what you thought you were shelling out 100 dollars on pay-per-view for.
