Even though Jameis Winston helped Florida State win a lot of games—not to mention a national championship—it's probably safe to say FSU isn't going to miss him too much now that he's headed to the NFL to play for the Buccaneers. Winston provided one headache after another for the school and was the subject of a handful of embarrassing scandals. But was he really an "embarrassment" to the university?

Former FSU head coach Bobby Bowden sure seems to think so.  Last year, he compared Winston to an elementary school student. And during a radio interview with Paul Finebaum this afternoon, he said that he believes FSU fans and boosters consider Winston "an embarrassment to the university."

"He won a lot of balls games," Bowden said, "probably one of the best football players that ever attended Florida State. But he hurt himself off the field. The good news is, he's young enough to get over that. But he's gotta do that. You just can't make those junior high school decisions that he made when he was in college."

On a positive note, Bowden has upgraded Winston from elementary school to junior high. But as far as compliments go, that's probably not the ringing endorsement Winston wanted to hear.
