Ahead of Rutgers' spring game, they got a visit from a former star running back who, at the moment, finds himself without an NFL team. Ray Rice, currently out of the NFL after a video surfaced of the former Baltimore Ravens running back punching his wife in an Atlantic City casino elevator, spoke to his alma mater about avoiding the colossal mistakes that he's made in his career. Of his speech, Rice told nj.com:

"I just shot them straight. I'm sure if you speak to them, they'll give you a lot better explanation of what I told them, but I gave them the message to go out there and not make the mistakes that I made. If I can help them understand, then I've made an impact. It costs no money to give them a good message like that."

Refraining from domestic violence should be a standard practice by now in the NFL, but sometimes it seems like it's more rampant than ever. It's a curious move, bringing a man in the midst of turmoil in to speak to your football team, but Rutgers head coach Kyle Flood thought Rice's message of holding himself accountable for the mistakes he's made was something his players needed to hear.

Rice was reinstated by the NFL back in December of 2014. He has yet to sign with another NFL team.
