It’s nice that John Harbaugh is confident in his quarterback. Really, it is. But the Baltimore Ravens coach might have gone a bit over the top when last night he proclaimed Joe Flacco to be “the best quarterback in football” for the second time this week.

Following last night’s 30-17 victory over the Steelers, Harbaugh declared the following at his postgame press conference: “Joe Flacco, what can you say. He’s the best quarterback in football. We’ll take him any day of the week, twice on Sunday or Saturday if that be the case.”

While this statement is probably not accurate, if you’re talking about just the playoffs Harbaugh may have a point. In his last five postseason games, Flacco is 5-0 with 13 TD passes and no interceptions. Of all active quarterbacks with at least 10 playoff starts, Flacco has the second-highest winning percentage (.714). If he isn’t the best, he is certainly among them.

And yet, the question remains: is he elite?
