Anytime Bill Walton is involved in the broadcast of a college basketball game something weird is bound to happen. And things got really weird last night when Walton and his fellow ESPN analysts Jay Bilas and Dave Pasch came together to call the Colorado/Arizona game in Tucson.

At one point during the game, Walton decided that he was going to give Pasch a gift in honor of him winning the "Arizona Sportscaster of the Year" award recently. So he handed him a copy of Charles Darwin's book The Origin of Species and said, "I want to make sure you believe in evolution."

But Pasch—who apparently believes in creationism—didn't want the book. So he took it, put it down quickly, and replied, "I don't."

Walton then gave Bilas a copy of the Jerry Garcia book, Harrington Street. And while Bilas accepted the gift, he didn't necessarily seem too thrilled to receive it.

"It ain't Jeezy, but it'll have to do," said Bilas, who then attempted to educate Walton as to who Young Jeezy is. "He's the Urban Philosopher. You could learn a lot."

But Pasch wasn't done talking about his gift. Before Bilas could finish teaching Walton about Jeezy, Pasch interrupted him and said that he has a book that he'd like to give to Walton.

"By the way, I have a book, Bill, that counters The Origin of Species, if you'd like me to bring that to you the next game," Pasch said.

"I believe in science and evolution," Walton replied. "I've been to the Grand Canyon."

Thankfully, Pasch stopped him before he could go any further. "Alright," he said, "let's move on here."

Yes, let's. Aren't you guys supposed to be talking about, you know, BASKETBALL?
