With his iconic raised hands and reddened winter face, 68-year-old Tom Coughlin has been a mainstay on the New York Giants sideline since 2004. And while the former Jags head coach has secured two Super Bowl victories for Big Blue, XLII in 2007 and XLVI in 2011, he has been under intense scrutiny following the Giants’ prolonged struggles.

The latest to hop on the fire TC bandwagon is former Giants running back Tiki Barber. Barber, who played for New York from 1997-2006, played just three seasons under Coughlin, but word of their rocky relationship was never far from the headlines. Now, the two are back in those same New York newspaper headlines following Barber’s recent comments, Monday, on The Beast 980 radio in L.A.

“I’ve held off on saying it, but it’s time for (the Giants) to make a change at head coach,” said the three-time Pro Bowler according to a New York Daily News report. “The Giants are not listening to Tom Coughlin anymore.”

“As much as they want to pass the buck and blame the offensive coordinator, the team got rid of Kevin Gilbride and brought in Ben McAdoo. Now they say it’s the defensive coordinator’s fault, so maybe it’s time to get rid of Perry Fewell. At some point, it trickles uphill and has to be Tom Coughlin’s responsibility.”

Look, the Giants are sitting at 3-7, haven’t won a game since Oct. 5, and are all but certain of missing out on the postseason for the third year running. But there were plenty of analysts and fans alike calling for Kevin Gilbride’s head, as they are now for Perry Fewell’s as a result of his too-complex defensive schemes. Also, can water trickle uphill? Is Tiki still doing Bar Mitzvahs? We'll never have all the answers.

Anyway, Coughlin probably isn’t far away from calling his own number, but is it time for ownership to make that call first?
