There were only a few minutes remaining and Ole Miss was on the verge of taking down third ranked Auburn and greatly improving their chances of reaching the first ever College Football Playoff. Down four with 1:37 left, Rebels quarterback Bo Wallace threw a quick out to his left to wide receiver Laquon Treadwell, who has having a monster game. Treadwell took the pass and burst up field, snaking his way through defenders until there was nothing in front of him but the end zone. And that's when it all went terribly wrong.
With Rebel fans losing their minds thinking their team was assured of a touchdown, Treadwell was dragged down awkwardly, simultaneously fumbling the ball before he crossed the goal line and having something terrible done to his ankle that will most likely end his season. It was probably the worst way to lose a football game ever, as the Rebels went from thinking they had the lead to losing the game (35-31) and their best receiver at the same time. Rough.
