Symone Greene, a 22-year-old substitute teacher in the D.C. area, was arrested and charged yesterday for first-degree sexual abuse of a minor in a significant relationship, stemming from an incident which allegedly took place between herself and a 17-year-old football player from Options Public Charter School. According to police, Green performed oral sex on the student during an October 17 pep rally.

Here are some further details:

  • Greene and the student met on October 17, an introduction which allegedly culminated in the student giving his number to Greene. After school, the two traded texts, and the student then quickly returned to Options, arriving at 3:26 p.m. Reportedly, this is when Greene performed oral sex on the student. However, their meeting was quick, ending at 3:40 p.m. due to the fact that the student had to attend the pep rally.

  • At one point in their interaction, the student reportedly asked Greene for "sex acts to match the number on his jersey." It is unconfirmed whether the Washington Post's original report is meant to imply that the student's jersey number is 69.

  • The student recorded his interaction with Greene and showed it to six of his friends. After obtaining the video, police were able to match it with the room where the interaction took place.

  • Greene and the student traded texts over the weekend, including one message in which Greene told the student she had a boyfriend, citing the relationship as a reason that she and the student couldn't have sex.

Quite the scandal, huh? Apparently, Options was already in a big enough mess before this sordid nightmare decided to unfold. Shady bookkeeping forced the school to revamp almost half of its entire staff over the summer, and the city's charter board even considered shuttering the school. This fiasco likely won't help the school's case as they fight to keep their doors open.
