In the wake of his September 30 DUI arrest (his second), Michael Phelps has decided to seek treatment and will head to rehab.

“I am extremely disappointed with myself,” he posted on his Twitter. “I'm going to take some time away to attend a program that will provide the help I need to better understand myself.”

As for his swimming career—and possible 2016 Olympic aspirations—Phelps did not suggest that this would permanently stall his comeback attempt. Rightly, though, his focus is 100 percent on his health: “Swimming is a major part of my life, but right now I need to focus my attention on me as an individual, and do the necessary work to learn from this experience and make better decisions in the future.”

The 18-time Olympic medalist was arrested less than a week ago after being clocked going 84 miles per hour in a 45 zone, then failing a field sobriety test. His previous DUI came in 2004, when he was just 19 years old.
