If you’re Cam Newton, you don’t respond to disappointment with retreat. You respond by upping the expectations.

After Carolina's most successful season in recent years ended in disappointment, Cam immediately went back to work. For him the off-season isn't time-off, it's an opportunity to get better in every way possible so he can take his team all the way in 2014. That’s a lot of pressure for any 25-year-old quarterback, especially one requiring ankle surgery and four months of strenuous rehab. Luckily, Newton is built different.

In Epsiode 1 of Under Armour’s new video series “Huddle Up,” fans will see Cam shed the Superman image he’s been crowned with on the game days to reveal the real man behind the (face)mask. From returning to Auburn to get his degree to hosting numerous fundraisers and events for his foundation to his 7v7 football camps, where he helps shape talented young players into mature young men, all while working to return his ankle to 100 percent health.

“Every ounce of my energy is to try to make them better,” Newton says. “I’ve seen the hopeless or the failure that people look down on and I’m willing to do absolutely anything to get those kids out of the situation that they’re in.”

As young teenagers fighting to overcome expectations, they needed a leader, a role model. Thankfully, they got Cam.
