England didn't have a very good World Cup. A new cycle of emerging young talent brought some optimism to the Three Lions hopeful, but two 2-1 defeats to Italy and Uruguay has ensured elimination. Many of the concerns fell at the feet of manager Roy Hodgson and Wayne Rooney, the de facto face of English football.
Questions over where Wayne Rooney should start and jokes poked at his 759 minute goal drought at the World Cup raged on. (Aside: If Roy Hodgson had been more pragmatic and gone with a 4-1-2-1-2, England would still be alive. When five of the starting XI are Liverpool players, just emulate their attractive style! Having Steven Gerrard as a deep-lying playmaker with Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana in front of him for protection, plus Raheem Sterling starting as a central attacking midfielder with Daniel Sturridge and Wayne Rooney up top would've been fire.) Rooney finally scored against Uruguay in the second half, but it's hardly a silver lining.

He expressed himself on Facebook:

Meanwhile, Roy Hodgson will be back as England manager for the foreseeable future. This is the first time since 1958 that England has not advanced out of the Group Stage of the World Cup.
