The Porsche Boxster and Cayman both rely on their six cylinder engines to get things moving, but that's going to change for the next generation. Porsche is working on a range of small turbocharged boxer fours that wil certainly make comparisons between the Cayman and the Alfa 4C even more commonplace.
CAR Magazine claims to have seen a Porsche document that reveals that the following three flat fours will be available from Porsche in the future:
- 1.6L rated to 210 hp
- 2.0L rated to 286 hp
- 2.5L rated to 360 hp
The Boxster and Cayman will probably get the 2.0 and the 2.5, while the 1.6 might be reserved for the rumored sub-Boxster convertible. The future looks nice.
