Martin Kaymer zoomed out to a lead on the first day of the U.S. Open with a 65, followed that up with a 65 on the second day, then held everybody off over the weekend for a dominant eight stroke victory and his second Major title.

Only seven times in the 114 year history of the Open has someone gone wire-to-wire for the win, and joined elite names like Seve Ballesteros, Erine Els, Tiger Woods, and Rory McIlroy as the only players ever to win two majors and be ranked No. 1 in the world before the age of 30.

Kaymer had one the Players Championship last weekend, and is now playing the best golf of his career. It has been a long way back for him, as he hit a rough patch in 2011 after reaching the No. 1 ranking in the world and spent the better part of two years refining his game.

If the last month is any indication, Kaymer is back in a big way.
