Last Sunday night, an EF4 tornado ripped through the state of Arkansas and did a ton of damage to thousands and thousands of cars. At best, cars were left with a bunch of dings and dents all over them. At worst, they were torn to shreds and were nearly impossible to identify because of the devastating tornado. And in at least one case, a truck was picked up and carried by the tornado for a long, long, long time before it was eventually discarded more than 27 miles away.

The truck was originally parked in Mayflower, Ark. before the tornado made its way up through the state on Sunday night. But after the tornado hit Mayflower, it picked up the truck and carried it, using its 180-mph winds to keep it in the air. And it carried it for so long that the truck didn't touch the ground again until the tornado reached the city of Vilonia, which is about 27 miles away from Mayflower. It's something that doesn't happen very often. But as USA Today points out over here, it is something that has happened to vehicles and other large items in the past.

Just in case you're wondering, USA Today also tracked down the world record for the longest distance that an item has ever been carried by a tornado. That record? An astonishing 223 miles, which is how far a personal check traveled when a tornado hit Stockton, Kan. back in 1991 and carried the check all the way to Winnetoon, Neb.

Mother Nature is clearly capable of doing some pretty unbelievable things, isn't she?
