The Ford Mustang finally coming to Europe was already a huge event, but the Detroit car manufacturer decided to go all out by taking the first reservations at the Champions League Final. Before Atletico Madrid took the lead it would ultimately squander—or before any action, really—the first 500 reservations for the 2015 Mustang sold out in 30 seconds

“We knew there was huge excitement building for the new Mustang coming to Europe, but the response during the UCL Final was overwhelming,” said Roeland de Waard, vice president of marketing, sales and service at Ford of Europe. “It was a truly special way to kick off the Ford Mustang era in Europe.”

9,300 people tried to get their hands on the first 500 reservations, which included red and silver models with either the 2.3-liter EcoBoost four or the 5-liter V-8. Those with reservations will be able to complete their purchase at dealerships later this year and can expect delivery when the 'Stangs actually arrive next year.
