If you get pulled over by a traffic cop, there are quite a few things that you can do to try and get out of getting a ticket. For instance, you can tell the cop that you really, really, really need to be somewhere (a wedding, the birth of your first-born child, etc.). You can also shed a few tears and pretend to be from out of town. Or, if you're feeling especially desperate, you can pray hard—very hard—for a tree to fall on top of the cop. Because apparently, that is the easiest way to get out of a ticket.
Recently, a driver in Centerville, Iowa found that out when he got pulled over for a minor traffic infraction. During his stop, a tree came out of nowhere and crashed down on top of the cop who pulled him over. And while the cop ended up being OK, he was so shaken up after the tree fell on him that he let the driver off without a ticket.
"That's the one true way to get out of a ticket," the officer told Fox 2 News in St. Louis later. "Everyone asks police officers how you get out of a ticket. If a tree falls on you, you're probably going to get off."
