As if Forza Motorsport 5 and Gran Turismo 6 weren’t big enough contenders in the racing-sim arena, the 2014 holiday season offers up Project CARS and this – DRIVECLUB.
The game is Sony’s latest entrant into motor racing, but it seems to take a bit of a tangent from hardcore racing simulators like Forza and GT. Watch closely and you might notice a couple instances where slides seemed too composed or crashes looked a bit too ping-pongy.
Nevertheless, its graphical complexity makes it stand out as a clear competitor for the upcoming Project CARS, even in its current beta version. Sony deploys very realistic lighting models, hallmarked by detailed shifts from day to night during play sessions. And the cars certainly don’t look shabby themselves.
The game drops on October 7, 2014 exclusively for the PS4.
