What Could Possibly Be Powering This 2015 Mustang Prototype?

We know that Ford will be coming out with an EcoBoost Mustang, but could a high powered SVO be available too?

We learned a little while back that the four-cylinder variant of the 2015 Ford Mustang will inherit the EcoBoost name, but new footage has raised a few red flags among the Mustang cultus. Could the SVO be coming back?

The SVO (Special Vehicle Operations) nameplate shapes its lineage back to 1984, when Ford launched the Mustang with a 175-horsepower 2.3L turbocharged straight-four engine. Just over 30 years later, it appears the performance four-cylinder for 2015 could be a real crowd pleaser.

See for yourself. The above video shows the prototype revving a bit, though the engine note sounds much more like a performance four-banger than perhaps a throaty V8 from the expected GT350. Any other engine guesses? Here’s a safe bet: it’s not a W12.
