We're impressed by the Terrafugia Transition, as it represents a huge step on the way to the holy grail that is the flying car. Yes, it's more of a roadable aircraft, but it's still cool. What really has us excited is Terrafugia's next project: the TF-X

The TF-X is supposed to show up around 2021, have VTOL capabilities, and top out at 200 mph in the air, and now we know how that could be possible: 1,500 horsepower. That's right, according to Design & Trend the TF-X will be rocking two 600 hp electric motors and a 300 hp gas engine with fuel reserves and batteries big enough to give the vehicle a 500 mile range. Better still, Terrafugia claims that pilots would only need five hours of training. This could change the world.

What this means is that when aircraft like this are commonplace in 2055, we'll be complaining about the kids these days flying around having sex and doing whatever drug is trendy at the time.
