Thanks to a buyer with deep pockets, this 2013 Mustang Hero Car from Need For Speed just sold at the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach Auction for a cool $300,000. It seems like that is the going rate for Mustang's these days – the first 2015 model sold for $300k as well. But sadly this one isn’t road legal. Pity.

Inspired by the Ford Shelby GT500, this NFS recreation wears a widebody kit and some sharp 22” three-piece wheels. The kit features pumped up front and rear bumpers, extended rocker panels, and flared twin snorkel nostrils on the hood. No corners cut or expenses spared on this build.

Things do get a bit nerdy underneath the hood. The Mustang’s 5.0L V8 and six-speed manual are retained, but a hearty exhaust system, complete coilover suspension, new upper struts, revised trailing arms, and sway bars make this a custom pony not to be messed with. The auction never listed performance figures, but expect power to be more than sufficient.

The famous ‘Stang sold at no reserve on Saturday afternoon to benefit the Henry Ford Health System, a non-profit health and wellness group founded by Henry Ford in 1915.
