The Sleek Maserati Alfieri Is Headed to Production After a Sales Surge

It's about time Maserati had a new sports car.

Maserati's new Quattroporte and Ghibli, while not necessarily as pure as the last Quattroporte, have been selling very well, and that means that Maserati has some money to play with. What does the company plan to do with that money? Make the beautiful Alfieri concept into a production car. Luckily for everyone who let a little drool escape their mouths upon first viewing the Alfieri, Maserati claims that the concept would need little modification to turn into a production car.

Expect the new car to be powered by the same engines that are available in the Quattroporte, and be priced to compete against the V8 F-Types and the Porsche 911. Given that the baby McLaren, the Mercedes-AMG GT, and the Spyker B6 Venator are also targeting this market, it seems that the $90,000 to $150,000 sports car market is about to explode.

We can't wait to see how the Alfieri stacks up to all of this very steep competition.
