There are some strange world records out there, and now Honda can lay claim to one of the strangest of the bunch. For years, lawncare professionals have pleaded and pleaded for a quicker way to cut lawns. Honda UK answered with this – the Mean Mower, the Guinness World Record-holding Fastest Lawnmower.

Check out the link above to watch the successful record attempt. TopGear’s Piers Ward was behind the wheel of the Mean Mower, and had previously set the record at 87.83mph back in 2010. It’s safe to say he blew this one out of the water – setting a stratospheric 116.57mph.  To keep with Guinness standards, Ward ran the mower on two separate timing runs in both directions on the IDIADA Proving Ground, in Tarragona, Spain.

Even though it can run well over 100mph, the stipulation was that the Mean Mower must still be able to cut grass and look like a lawnmower, which it achieved. Underneath the Honda HF2620 lawnmower body, sits a custom-built chromoly chassis, the 109hp engine from a VTR Firestorm, the steering rack from a Morris Minor, and two electric motors that spin the cutting blades. I think major cities just solved their parking dilemmas: just start selling these.
