Le Mans is a daunting place. Between the 200mph straights or the bends that have claimed lives, it isn’t a track to be messed with. But you wouldn’t get that sense from the team Nissan has assembled to take on this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Nissan's will debut the ZEOD RC – the phallus racer – to take on la Sarthe. The details have been out for a while now, but it features a lightweight turbocharged three-cylinder engine, weighing only 88 lbs. and producing 400-horsepower. The engine complements a battery pack and electric motors to give the ZEOD RC some serious performance, even though its looks may beg to differ.
Even stranger than its appearance are the drivers who will be piloting it. Playstation GT Academy graduates, Wolfgang Reip and Lucas Ordóñez, will be driving the ZEOD RC around the circuit in June. Both drivers jump-started their racing careers on the couch while playing Gran Turismo. Who said videogames could never land you a job?
