Manny Ramirez used performance-enhancing drugs during his MLB career. That shouldn't come as a huge shock, seeing as how the former Red Sox star was suspended in both 2009 and 2011 for reportedly using a female fertility drug and artificial testosterone during his time with the Dodgers and Rays respectively. But during an interview with Fox Sports yesterday, Ramirez finally admitted the mistakes he's made.

"When you make a mistake in life, no matter what you do, you're going to pay the price," said Ramirez, who hasn't played in the major leagues since 2011. "That's what happened to all of the players that did it. I'm not going to judge people. Everybody is human. Everybody makes mistakes…You're going to feel guilty about what you did. But you did it. You move on. And you learn from it."

Ramirez also said that, while he's 41 now and well past his prime, he still wants one more chance to prove that he belongs on a major league roster.

"Now I appreciate it more and I'm so hungry to get back," he said, "just to get that feeling that I used to have before. I appreciate my family more, my kids, everything that God gave me."

A return to MLB is very, very, very unlikely for Ramirez. He spent 2012 playing in the minor leagues for the Athletics and last year playing in the minor leagues for the Rangers. And in both cases, it was clear that he was just a shell of his former self. But if Ramirez has truly learned a lesson from the PED scandal surrounding him, he could have a real future in coaching. So it'll be interesting to see what the next step in his career holds.
