Fans of the Nissan GT-R will be having a field day with this one. Following the successful second reveal of Infiniti’s polished Q50 Eau Rouge Concept in Geneva, whispers have circulated regarding Infiniti’s outlook for the future. If what we’re about to tell you is true, the future is blindingly bright.

Australia’s Motoring talked with an Infiniti insider about plans to develop the range even further than the Q50 Eau Rouge. The source claims that Infiniti is hoping to rollout a new four-door flagship (building off the Essence Concept pictured above) to compete with the Porsche Panamera, BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe, Audi A7, and Maserati Quattroporte. The reported trademarking of the Q80 and Q90 nameplates suggest that there is substance to these whispers in the night.

The source says that Infiniti has begun development of new 3.0L and 3.7L turbocharged hybrid V6 powerplants that would find their way into this new top-of-line model, alongside the GT-R’s all-wheel drive system. The smaller 3.0L hybrid is pegged to match up with the Porsche Panamera Turbo (a $141,000 car), but the bigger 3.7L hybrid will allegedly muster up over 700-horsepower. This would make for one ravishing cocktail of a car, but with a reported starting price of just under $200,000, we’re not sure that Infiniti can demand such a sky-high value.
