Drive Your Tesla From LA to NY For Free

The superchargers cover 80% of Americans now.

None

When electric cars are brought up, it's inevitable that someone says something about how it's impossible to go on a road trip. They've been right up until now, but Tesla Motors has made it so that you can road trip across America in an electric car.

A Tesla Supercharger will charge a Model S in just 30 minutes making long distance trips completely doable as long as drivers are willing to take some breaks. While this can be a little annoying, it's definitely healthier and safer, so we'll take it.

The real problem is that people taking cross-country trips will need to use carbon dating to figure out how long the trip took. Between the meandering route that would be necessitated right now and the 30 minute breaks it would be miserable. Still, Chicago to New York or LA to Denver look totally reasonable. By the end of 2014 fairly direct routes from basically everywhere of consequence to everywhere else of consequence should be available.
