The Honda Fit has been slackin' in sales. It's not selling as well as other Hondas, and compared to its competitors, it's fallen pretty far behind in the past couple years (word to the Chevy Sonic, Ford Fiesta, and Hyundai Accent). But Honda hopes that will all change with a completely reworked car set to hit stores in the spring.
The new Fit will have a direct-injection 1.5L four-cylinder with i-VTEC valve timing that will give 130 horsepower and 114 lb-ft of torque. That will be joined by a CVT or a six-speed manual, giving what Honda projects will be 33/41/36 mpg.
Now built in Celaya, Mexico, the Fit also gets a reworked exterior, with a bit harder appearance, and is a little shorter and a bit wider, but has 52.7 cubic feet of cargo space (with seats down) and 4.9 cubic feet more passenger space.
