The McLaren F1 might just be our favorite supercar. It's naturally aspirated, incredibly fast, freakishly precise, has that amazing 1+2 seating arrangement, and has a racing pedigree. It's perfect. The F1 GTR Longtail was one of the racing variants of the F1, and this one is going up for auction by Gooding & Co. in Scottsdale, AZ on January 17th or 18th.
Only 10 of these were built for the '97 Le Mans season. The weight was reduced, compared to the previous F1 Le Mans car, and a sequential gearbox was added. This particular car's engine is "slightly destroyed" which means who the hell knows what. It had four podium finished out of five races, and won at the Hockenheimring and at Helsinki.
Gooding expects it to sell for $5,000,000 to $7,000,000.
