At first glance, the GIF above might not look all that painful. It's just a GIF of Tampa Bay Lightning center Steven Stamkos sliding into his own net during a game against the Boston Bruins today. But then, you see what happens when his right leg hits the goalpost and…OMFG! DID HIS SHIN JUST SNAP IN TWO?!
Fortunately—for you, at least—hockey players wear all sorts of padding and equipment and stuff, so this GIF isn't nearly as gross as the GIFs of Kevin Ware that popped up earlier this year. But it appears as though Stamkos suffered a pretty serious injury here and will need to take a lot of time off to let it heal. Let's hope this looked a lot worse than it actually turns out to be.
