Sierra Leone is a tiny country that suffered 380 traffic fatalities and 2,204 reported accidents last year. Considering the fact that not many people own cars, this means that the people in Sierra Leone are absolutely terrible at driving, and the government has a plan to fix that with a board game.

Sarah Bendu, the executive director of the country's Road Transport Authority, says that "Most crashes here are a result of ignorance of the highway code, and most drivers don't even understand half the road signs." So an educational board game called The Driver's Way was created. It's played with a traffic light themed die and various traffic law questions that must be answered as players move their car tokens around the board. It's like that Passing The Bar game from Skymall that somebody bought your lawyer friend who immediately threw it out upon receipt. Bendu says it's plays similarly to Scrabble, but that doesn't seem to make much sense to us.

The idea is that prospective drivers will "play it for two or three months, or maybe just one if they're smart enough, then they will come for their test." We hope it works.
