The Brooklyn Nets will go through an adjustment period. It happens to every team that undergoes a radical roster change. But, this upcoming season, the Nets will go through their own unique bit of struggle given the fact that it will be Jason Kidd's first year as an NBA head coach. Plus, it will be especially interesting to watch the 40-year-old Kidd bossing around their oldest and craziest player, 37-year-old Kevin Garnett. And, it looks like things got off to a little bit of rocky start.
During the Nets media day today, Garnett was asked how he responded to Kidd suggesting that KG wouldn't play in consecutive games and he said, "It didn't go too well. I understand what he's saying. He just wants to make sure I'm durable. ... I just don't want to be told anything. I think I've earned the right to have an opinion on something that I'm doing."
Garnett has a good reason, though, for why he doesn't like the idea of not playing consecutive games. "From a chemistry standpoint, I think it's important for me to be out there with everybody," he said. So, it looks like, for the time being, their mini-dispute has settled down. But let's see what happens when the season rolls around and the situation actually presents itself.
It looks like it's going to be a fun season for the Nets already.
