Not a smooth move by the legend.

A 6'9" NBA legend Bill Russell carrying a .38-caliber Smith & Wesson pistol sounds badass to some and shady to others in concept. But in practice at an airport, that's a big no-no. It's no exception for the 11-time NBA champion.

Russell, who's 79 years old, was arrested at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport for carrying the pistol in his carry-on luggage. The weapon would've had to be properly stored and unloaded to be permitted, and having it in carry-on luggage with six loaded rounds breaks both rules.

Russell may be fined up to $7,500 —a fraction of what's on his hands in the above picture. He should be fine, but still, there's the question of why did he slip up in the first place.
