Just what Major League Baseball needs right now in the middle of the MLB Playoffsmore controversial news involving Alex Rodriguez!

According to The New York Times, Rodriguez just announced that he's suing MLB for the "witch hunt" that they have gone on to try and force him to quit the game of baseball. Rodriguez—who is currently appealing a 211-game suspension that MLB handed to him over the summer due to his connection to the Biogenesis doping clinic and Biogenesis founder Anthony Bosch—believes that MLB is doing all they can to force him to retire. His lawyers claim that MLB paid $150,000 for private records related to Rodriguez that were stolen from Biogenesis. And they also claim that MLB paid Bosch about $5 million so that he would cooperate with their investigation into Rodriguez's alleged performance-enhancing drug use. Specifically, Rodriguez is accusing MLB of "tortious interference," which means that their crusade against him is ruining his current business relationships.

"The entire legal dynamic is very complex," Rodriguez said in a statement, "and my legal team is doing what they need to in order to vindicate me and pursue all of my rights. This matter is entirely separate from the ongoing arbitration. I look forward to the arbitration proceedings continuing, and for the day to come when I can share my story with the public and my supporters."

Sigh. All of this A-Rod news is never going to end, is it? No, really, it's never going to end. We're convinced of it. We're still going to be sitting here in, like, 2042 drafting up pieces about A-Rod trying to clear his name and get back into baseball. When will it end?
